A Dog's Life

The Situation

To tell the story of meaningful change in a way that dramatizes the big improvement in quality of life that can result from a small improvement in a person’s health.

The Solution

The story is told from the point of view of a dog, Harry. This allowed us to illustrate small changes in his owner’s health with dramatic impacts in Harry’s World.

The client initially wanted a pop-up book, but we wanted a more absorbing world. So, we came up with the concept of a paper world folding out of a book, to encourage the audience to become more immersed and invested in the story.

This heavily influenced the visual style which we kept to a very minimal color palette of nearly all white, using spot colors to highlight key elements.

The early drafts of the script contained dialogue, but we ultimately stripped it all out, as we felt we could tell the story without it. This meant that the film was easy to use in multiple countries and removed the need for translation.
